Today I did another thing that I'm probably too fucking old to be doing. That would be going to Six Flags Magic Mountain. It's been 10+ years since my last visit, and I don't recall having been on any roller coasters since then. What a world of difference in a decade.

Six Flags has been in troubles financially for a while now and it really shows. There were barely any lines to most of the attractions. It was ridiculous to be already to get right on the Viper without a second of waiting line. We literally walked right in and just sat right down. We ended up going through 10 rides in about 6 hours.

I don't know if it was because of the heat, not getting enough sleep, me reaching a certain age, or all of the above, but I was really dizzy by the time I got off the second ride. Totally weak sauce. I felt like crap after 3 rides, so we decided to go easy for a bit. We took one of those log rides where you come out soaking wet, like you just wet your pants while you were upside down on one of the roller coasters so your shirt is also wet. I got a lot better after that filler ride and we jumped right back onto the crazy ones. Of course, after a couple rides, I started to feel like crap again. Only the last ride we went on, there was a point when I actually felt like I'm going to puke. It's sad to know that I'm getting too old for this shit. Overall though, it was an awesome experience. One that I wouldn't try to recreate in a while...

Michael Lau was tasked with creating the Nike China Federation BMX Racing Team Kit for the upcoming Beijing Olympics. The Blazers and the figures look very nice, but the most unique is the show box. It's made to mud with some tire trackings on it. This is surely a collectible item and will never reach my hands.

This weekend's big Blizzard announcement is, as everyone predicted, Diablo III. This is exciting news as everybody has been waiting for it for many years. Knowing Blizzard, we will probably see this released in at least 2 years. This is what makes Blizzard games top quality as they're willing to spend time to hone and tweak until it's exactly what they want. Pretty much the whole original Diablo team had left to form Flagship Studios though, so let's see if they're able to live up to their predecessors. On the other hand, Hellgate: London flopped pretty bad, so... we'll see...

It's been a while since Capcom has released a new game in the Vs. series. As a matter of fact, it's been a while since Capcom has released a new fighting game. The last in the Vs. series was Namco X Capcom, and that wasn't even a fighting game. Now, with me already hyped up about Street Fighter IV, which has yet to be released, they already working on a new fighting game in the Vs. series, Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom. By the looks of the screenshot, this will be more like Marvel Vs. Capcom, with crazy combos and over the top supers instead of the more slow paced and subtle style of SNK Vs. Capcom.

Tatsunoko is a Japanese animation company responsible for many great classics, like the recently movie adapted Speed Racer, Macross, Gatchaman, and Neon Genesis Evangelion. We've already seen screenshots of Gatchaman and Casshern in action. It'll be interesting to see what classic anime characters we will be able to kick ass with when more info is released. Silent Hill: Homecoming

On it's 5th iteration, Silent Hill has consistently creeped the shit out of me. It was more terrifying when I traverse through each area in this series than doing the same in the Resident Evil series. The first SH was also genius in design. With the limited power of the PS1, developers had to use put fog in the game to hide some of the ugliness of pop-ins that occur when certain in game objects comes into view. The SH developers decided to intensify the fog so much that the player can barely see where they're going or what's coming. It was horrifying to the player, knowing that at any moment something will come out and chew your face off. This effectively turns the PS1's limitation to one of the game's greatest effect.

Now with the power of PS3 and Xbox 360, the fog technique is no longer needed to hide such limitations. In SH5, there is very little fog to be seen. Hopefully, this will no subtract from the Silent Hill experience.

It's MGS4 extravaganza! Yesterday was the Metal Gear Sold 4 press conference, which has been completed and ready for our consumption on June 12th. A couple of videos have been released: 1 trailer, 2 which looks like TV spots, and 1 has Old Snake pimping some energy drink. A couple of things were also announced during conference. The Altair's costume that was shown in the April Fool's video is really in the game and is an unlockable item. Also, there will be some MGS4 branded items going on sale soon, which includes:

* Uniqlo will be releasing a couple different MGS4 themed tee's.
* MGS4 duck alarm clock at the end of July.
* Official MSG4 Sony cell phone MGS4. (Pretty safe to assume it will be Sony Ericsson phone)
* A Salaryman cell phone game.

A Gears of War 2 gameplay video was premiered last friday. It shows off some of the new gameplay mechanics such as using enemies as shields and chainsaw battles. Graphically and gameplay wise, there doesn't seem to be much of a difference from the first GoW, but that's not such a bad thing. Though it looks the same, the updated Unreal Engine 3 seems to be much more capable than it's previous iteration used in GoW1. There's a point where you can see a couple dozen Locust troops all on screen at one same time.

You can't help but be impressed when you watch videos of parkour. It seems almost inhuman when you watch these people leap across rooftops and climb skyscrapers with such naturalness. These people are the closest to real life Spiderman as you can get. With Mirror's Edge, lazy out of shape geeks like me can take part in parkour. This trailer looks awesome and gives you a glimpse of what you can do in the game.

Last week, while looking through Samurai magazine in the book store in Little Tokyo, I saw the pixelated camo jacket. It is a pretty cool design and it has a slightly unreal effect when you first laid eyes on it. It reminds me of soldiers in camo in Metal Gear Solid on the original Playstation, with all its low-res glory. So along with the jacket, the Nitraid's Summer 08 collection also have hats, cellphone cases, skateboards, belts, and bandanas.

The demo for echochrome will be released tomorrow for both the PS3 and PSP. Similar to other games like Crush and Super Paper Mario Wii, the gameplay mainly revolves around manipulating the camera view of the 3D world. It tests your ability to be able to see things in a 3D and 2D mindset simultaneously. Rather than failing miserably to explain the gameplay, I'll just let the video do the explaining.

As everybody knows, Bape is very popular in Japan. As everybody also knows, the Nintendo is very popular in Japan. So when you combine the 2 together, you get something that's... well, very popular. This is the video taken at the Bape's flagship store in Aoyama, Tokyo for the release of the Bape DS. A few things came to mind:

Around 90% of the people are wearing Bapes, cause you know when you line up for a Bape product, you have to be wearing Bapes. You wouldn't want the other guys to think you are a Bape newbie.
Surprisingly, only around 5% of the people seems to be playing with the DS. Actually, there aren't any good shots of a DS in the video, but some people look like they using handheld devices, so I'm assuming they're DS's. I thought everybody in Japan already owns a DS. Isn't this the perfect time to bust it out and get your game on?
There is aproximately 1 person in there that isn't Japanese.

I've decided to move back from Wordpress to Blogger. Although I like the backend functionalities and blog statistics on the Wordpress, I find that it is too restricting in terms of embedding objects into my posts. I first got annoyed by the fact that it is a bit difficult to post videos from sites other than YouTube and Google Video. Since Wordpress automatically strips out any object tags, I had to jump through some hoops before I was able to post the PS3 2.30 firmware video. Then today, when I was not able to embed a Google Map to the previous post because of the same problem with embedded objects, I decided that it was time to move back to Blogger. Blogger allows more flexibility for embedding objects, which is a very common thing to do nowadays.

So now I have manually moved all my posts back from Wordpress to here. The comments have been lost though.

The PS3 has constantly been getting firmware updates that have enhanced and added many nice features for it. With the upcoming 2.30 firmware, one of the new features is a revamped Playstation Store. I hated the old store, which was basically ran on top of the PS3 browser. It was slow and a pain to navigate through. Looks like the new store, which is a native PS3 application instead of a web application, will fixed these issues while adding some new ones. I like the new preview feature.

Shoes... Me Like

Recently, there are a couple of shoes that have caught my interest. It seems ages has past since the times when I would buy probably 2-3 pairs a month. Now, I probably buy shoes on average of 2 per year. Have I lost interest in the sneaker game? A little. Have the shoe designs been sub-par? A tad. Have the pricing and the methods of acquisition been ridiculous? Fucking yes. To get a pair of SB's, I would have to check each store that MIGHT have the shoes for availability everyday, go line up in front of the store 8 hours before it opens if it does. Then if I'm lucky to still find a pair my size, I have to then pay at least twice the amount that it would cost because the store jacks it up, knowing that if you won't buy it, the 100 other people behind you will. Yeah, call me bitter.

Sorry for that rant. Back to the original topic. These are a few that I'm quite interested in.

Nike Dunk SB - Pieter Cornelis Mondriaan

This is new Dunk SB is inspired by a Dutch Painter, Pieter Cornelis Mondriaan. I really like the thick black borders that are placed on the stitchings. It creates a boldness that really stands out and it's a little different than 50 color mashups that Nike has been doing with their SB's. Below is the one of a series of paintings, called "Compositions", that it is inspired by.

I haven't paid attention to Gravis for a long while, but this one caught my eye. It's from the Expedition Series pack, which has 4 different of their shoes in an outdoor theme. This particular one that I'm interested in is the Fulton.

These first caused a craze when Kanye West wore them in the Stronger video. Many people are calling it wack, but I think these are pretty cool. Designed by Ato Matsumoto, these can be pre-ordered on Oki-Ni. It's only 199 pounds, which is approximately 390 dollars. Thanks, I'll just watch.

Adidas x Star Wars "The Force" Consortium Pack

These have been released a while ago and I had lost hope in acquiring these. I was really hyped up by these, but I missed my chance. Then 2 weeks ago, I saw them in their gloriously geeked-out box in SURU on Melrose. I have $200 store credit over there, so I was super excited to be able to get at least a pair, even with their usual price gouging. Wishful thinking. $320 for a pair... The force was not with me that day.

Google App Engine Preview Release

Google has begun accepting sign ups for their Google App Engine preview release. Google App Engine is basically a hosting solution from Google, where you can run your web apps on their servers and using their custom database system (BigTable). So now, you can write your own web application running on top of Google's mega infrastructure without having to worry much about servers and load balancing. You know, all that fun stuff. You'll be able to use their API's to access the database and your gmail account to send emails from your web app.

Accounts are limited to the first 10,000 developers, and applications are restricted to the free account limits. Every Google App Engine application can use up to 500MB of persistent storage and enough bandwidth and CPU for 5 million monthly page views. It currently only runs applications written in Python, and will later also support Ruby and PHP apps.

Kotaku had a hands on with some of the different multiplayer modes for the high anticipated GTA4, which is coming out the 29th of this month. There are the usual deathmatch and team deathmatch modes. And then there are these little co-op side missions that supports up to 4 players. It'll be exciting to load up the game with 3 friends and cause the usual GTA brand mayhem upon the city. Which reminds me, I still haven' t finished San Andreas. I keep getting side tracked into dropping people out of their bike and running over innocent pedestrians. MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...

Saw this on HypeBeast. H&M will be releasing an autumn collection in collaboration with Comme des Garçons’ founder and head designer Rei Kawakubo. The world launch of the collection will be at the opening of H&M’s second store in Tokyo, Japan, in the beginning of November. Launch date for other H&M markets will be a few days later.

It'll be interesting to see whether this will be the most expensive H&M or cheapest Comme des Garçons’ collection ever. I'm hoping for the latter. Yes, I'm cheap.
